Sight and Observation Drawing
Concept
Each student was instructed to find eight objects in their home which they could observe and draw. The eight objects were to take up two pages in our sketchbooks and were due by the end of the week they were assigned. The idea of the assignment was to draw what we saw, and not what we expected to see. We weren't required to draw any background, but we did need to shade the pictures.

Final Images
The first picture, in the upper left-hand corner, is of an apple without a stem.
The second picture, in the upper right-hand corner, is of a stuffed doll I made
several years ago. Its body was sewn out of T-shirt fabric, filled with fiberfill,
and its face was drawn on in marker.
The third picture, in the lower left-hand corner, is of a small glass bottle
stopped with a cork. It was resting on a dark, wooden table, so the reflections
inside the bottle are also dark.
The fourth picture, in the lower right-hand corner, is of a Scrabble tile, the
the letter U in particular.
The fifth picture, in the upper left-hand corner, is of a plastic skull ring from a
Halloween event. The ring was light green and had a complicated design, so I
decided to draw it upside down.
The sixth picture, in the upper right-hand corner, is of a metal and plastic
magnet toy, which came in a set of rods and connectors. It, along with the other
pieces in the set, were intended to be used to make small magnetic structures.
The seventh picture, in the lower left-hand corner, is of a cotton ball that I
had rolled up into a more interesting shape. Cotton balls don't cast much of a
shadow, so I wadded it up to give me more to shade.
The eight picture, in the lower right-hand corner, is of a leaf from a plant that
had been growing near where I was sitting when I was drawing the cotton ball.
I was fond of its heart-like shape.
